Gwyddion is a modular SPM (Scanning Probe Microsope) data visualization and analysis tool. It can be used for all most frequently used data processing operations including: leveling, false color plotting, shading, filtering, denoising, data editing, integral transforms, grain analysis, profile extraction, fractal analysis, and many more. The program is primarily focused on SPM data analysis (e.g. data obtained from AFM, STM, NSOM, and similar microscopes). However, it can also be used for analyzing SEM (scaning electron microscopy) data or any other 2D data.

Release Notes: This is mainly a bugfix release, fixing a crash in "Volume show and extract" and several other bugs. A new file import module for Zemax grid sag data was added. Blind tip estimation can calculate the evolution of the tip, and its speed was improved. Dimensions and Units can set the pixel size to match exactly another image. Import support for TIA SER, IGOR, and EZD was improved.
Release Notes: The main change is support for volume data. Several modules for extraction of lower-dimensional data from volume data and creation of volume data were added. File modules already supporting loading of volume data include Nanoscope, NanoScanTech, old MDA, and NT-MDT Raman images. New file import modules for Tescan MIRA and S49 were added.
Release Notes: Import modules for APE Research DAX, Nanomagnetics NMI, and FEI Magellan SPM images have been added. An export module for VTK structured grids has been added. Support for importation and exportation of Gwyddion Simple XYZ field files has been added. A module for extending image borders has been added. Library functions and an experimental module for loading, visualization, and extraction of 3D volume data have been added. Import of Shimadzu, Createc, Omicron SCALA and flat, Nanoeducator, Nanoscantech, Nanoscope, and NetCDF has been improved. Crashes upon clicking color selection buttons have been fixed. Several bugs in Merge have been fixed.
Release Notes: New grain quantities have been added: mean radius and quantities related to the maximum inscribed disc and minimum exscribed circle. The neural network processing module has been rewritten, with separate network training and application functions. Handling of files with non-ASCII characters on MS Windows has been improved.
Release Notes: The MS Windows package now comes with pygwy included. On Unix, a standalone gwy module is now available so Gwyddion Python scripts can be run outside Gwyddion. Median line leveling supports masking. The changes also include a number of smaller file format support and user interface improvements.
