LinuxMCE
LinuxMCE is an add-on to Kubuntu that provides a complete whole-house media solution. It provides PVR and distributed media functions. It is stable, easy to use, and requires no knowledge of Linux and only basic computer skills. It allows you to set up a computer system that centralizes audio/video equipment, allowing you to access all media functions in other rooms with only thin clients. It supports home automation protocols including KNX, EIB, Z-Wave, DMX, EnOcean, and PLCBUS.

Release Notes: This is the first full community release. It contains support for additional home automation protocols, new media containers, updated drivers, and support for games. If MAME ROMs are placed into the proper subdirectories, supported games can be played on all of your media directors.

Release Notes: Additional home automation protocols are included, like EnOcean and DMX. Modifications in the existing protocols like Z-Wave, PLCBUS, and KNX/EIB. Updated upstream releases including MythTV 0.23 and VDR 1.7. Support for VDPAU and HDMI on selected chipsets.
