Pattern-lab is a pattern recognition program. It is optimized for OCR, but not constrained to it. The method used is mainly 'pattern matching'. Separation of merged patterns is one of the main goals. It is currently under development.

myPatterns is a lightweight library implementing pattern matching of arbitrary data structures (not just strings) in concrete syntax notations. Default notations such as JSON are pre-defined, but users can override them with new, customized notations for their data. myPatterns is available for C and JavaScript developers, and has already been integrated with querying tools such as JSLINQ and JSONQuery.

TXR is a new data munging language. TXR's special pattern language provides template-based matching of entire documents or large sections of documents. It also contains a language for functional and imperative programming. It is written in C and takes the form of a utility that is portable to Unix-like platforms and Windows.

Regular Expression Builder for Java (reb4j) is a simple set of classes that encapsulates the regular expressions used by java.util.regex.Pattern and provides facilities for composing larger expressions from sub-expressions. It effectively provides a way to build regular expressions without the risk of encountering PatternSyntaxExceptions at runtime.

Alfa is an experimental programming language. It combines the classic curly-bracket syntax similar to C and JavaScript with multi-clause functions with parameters passed by pattern matching. It is implemented as a translator to Scheme (using Gnu Guile).

Ackr is a very small subset of grep/ack/rak, for lazy developers. grep is a great tool, a very powerful tool, but often too powerful for simple needs. Ackr looks for a search string in all text files and in all subfolders from the working directory, is case insensitive, has no options, doesn't look into hidden folders/files, and displays the search term in a bold font.

Pixy is a declarative graph query language that works on any Blueprints-compatible graph database. The Blueprints API provides a common interface to over a dozen graph databases, including Neo4J, Titan, Infinite Graph, OrientDB, DEX, and Bitsy. Pixy enables complex pattern matching and logic programming on graph databases by translating PROLOG-style rules and goals to Gremlin pipelines that represent graph traversal operations. Queries in Pixy can also be seemlessly integrated into Gremlin expressions. The combination of Pixy and Gremlin gives the programmer the full power of two graph querying paradigms, viz. graph pattern matching and graph traversal.
